A little help here…

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

We are having our home inspected on Monday as part of an offer we have to buy our house! Yes, you read that right someone has actually made an offer on our home. I couldn’t believe the news when I heard it and almost cried with joy. Right now though we have some minor repairs that I think need to be done prior to the home inspection. Do you have any idea who in our house is trying to fix a leaky pipe right now? Not the man of the house because he is to busy looking at websites like authorize.net or whatnot. I realize he goes to work all day but I also work and raise kids. I think that selling our house should be a priority over watching YouTube or visiting random websites.

Just as much a slob

So since my husband has decided that I cant clean up after myself I have decided to change my ways and, in the process, do him a favor and clean out his beloved basement. I am tired of having to maneuver my way around unfinished projects to get to my laundry room and continually move the 500 feet of CAT5e cable, he just had to save from the dumpster, away from the door of the laundry room. I am sure he wont miss the two weed eaters, two TV’s, and the chainsaw (don’t know where that one came from) sitting in front of my craft area and on my sewing table. I hope he enjoys those two diapers I shoved in his tool box. Ha Ha.

Whoa!!!

I need to clean the van out more often is what my husband has been telling me for quite some time. After this morning I now have a deeper appreciation for those words. The smell started about a week ago and has steadily grown worse to the point where even my oldest refused to ride in the back of the van. I put it off for as long as I could but could bear it no longer and pulled the van in the driveway to clean it out. I started in the back and worked my way forward to the area from where I thought the stench was coming from. I reached under my seat and could not find any thing so I assumed that opening the storage drawer under the seat would be harmless…..I was wrong. My eyes stopped burning just long enough for me to start wretching as I slowly pulled two dirty disposable diapers from the drawer and put them in a Walmart bag. Needless to say they went straight to the garbage.

Welcome home!

As soon as we got in the door today my youngest son begged to watch a Thomas The Tank Engine movie. In order to get things done I thought this was a splendid idea. The thing was that at some point during our trip our tv decided to develop this incredible humming sound. How this happens when no one is watching it is a wonder to me. The sound is so loud you can barely hear the audio that is supposed to be coming from it. I suppose this is what I get for complaining about my kids watching too much television. When I want them to watch it it doesn’t work. Fortunately, my son really doesn’t sit and listen to the video and more or less like it to accompany him while he plays.

Why we don’t have television…

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Three weeks in a hotel with my kids watching television excessively was the perfect reminder for me as to why we chose to forgo cable television. By the end of the first week I noticed an ever increasing amount of begging on the part of my son for products he was exposed to by watching television. Suddenly, he was interested in ipods, video game, snow cone makers, and candy of all sorts. My son naturally likes to ask questions about the world around him but watching television clearly shifted his priorities from wanting to know about to materialism. I have to admit this mom loved being able to watch the Food Network, Animal Planet, and Discovery. I don’t however like the fact that television makes my children think “things” are the answer to joy and happiness.

Gonnabe an actor?

This summer my oldest son will be participating in two different summer camps. Last summer he chose to try out basketball camp and a nature camp. This year he decided that basketball is not his thing and has chosen an theater camp. He really seems to enjoy all things dramatic but has never taken any formal training. I am just hoping he feels comfortable at the camp because some of the kids I know who will be going to the camp have been taking acting classes and are already very talented in this area.

A select few of these kids already seem to have that inner drive necessary for truly reaching stardom. If you know a child like this who has talent that really should be shared with the world? Then take a minute or two and get acquainted with Gonnabe
. Gonnabe is a social networking center for families and talent industry professionals to make connections. There are numerous resources available to Gonnabe users to make launching an on screen career possible.

Gonnabe even goes so far as to guarantee that each child using their services will at the very least be an extra or have a role in a show at some point during their career. As I see it that is a strong statement of belief in their services. Recently, Gonnabe signed with the well known G4tv which gives them firm ground to make these types of career promises. G4Tv has produced shows such as Kids Unlimited and Say What. G4tv programming appears in over 61 million homes every Saturday. For those children who dream of stardom and really want to do the work that this dream requires Gonnabe can streamline that process through their range of networking, training, and career development resources.

Do we have to go back?

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

In the morning we head back home for the holiday weekend after being away for 10 days. Given all the stress our neighbors have caused in our lives over the last year being away this long has been a real treat. It makes it really hard to go back even for a couple of days and live next to people whose lifestyles we absolutely cannot stand. If it weren’t for the cost of renting a hotel for the weekend and our two cats we would probably just stay here. I wish there were type of cat condo in the area where we could house the cats for the next month. My boys are loving living the hotel life and especially the big old breakfast buffet every morning. Usually when I travel I simply cannot wait to get home and it kills me that our neighborhood has taken so much joy out of living our lives from us. We are trying to sell our house and leave this all behind us but that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere at all. I don’t know what else to do so I am simply going to take advantage of the chance to get away from it all.
