Me oh my.

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

What was supposed to be 6 weeks of training for my husband’s new job has now become 8 weeks. This wouldn’t be so bad if he were training closer to home. He is about 4 hours away and gets to come home for Friday and Saturday night. I have to admit I am just a wee bit envious of him. I know it is not like he is away on one of those fabulous Las Vegas travel getaways but still he is away from all the stress going on here at home. Not only am I left to manage the day to day lives of our children but also having our home constantly ready to show to perspective buyers. Yesterday, I had outpatient surgery so that is just another kink in the works. I was dealing pretty well with the idea of only having 3 more weeks of him being away but not it is 5 more weeks and that is just aggravating. I really hope this will all be a great thing for our family.

I like pressure washing!

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

My parents lent us their pressure washer and I have to say I find it a great deal of fun to use. I found myself pressure washing everything from the children’s swing set to our outdoor furniture. It really does a great job getting off any mud or mold that has developed from being out in the elements. There is just something refreshing about being able to just stand back and point the gun at something and see it look like new before your eyes. Maybe I have found my new vocation LOL!

One more thing to worry about.

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

When I was at the hospital yesterday getting registered for my surgery the hospital stated that I had no insurance coverage. After much discussion and phone calls it was determined that the insurance company had made and error and neglected to enroll anyone but my husband on the new insurance policy. With all the traveling we are doing back and forth to visit my husband while he is away I am wondering if we need to look into travel health insurance just in case the problem isn’t entirely fixed. It worries me to think that we could be traveling several hundred miles a week with no insurance.

Want to loose weight?

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

If you want to loose weight I have found the secret answer. It doesn’t require you to do any research looking for diet pill reviews or scour the internet for answers. All you have to do to loose weight is send your husband away for 6 weeks, add two high needs children, neighbors that need tri-weekly police intervention, and a dose of insomnia. For extra fast weight loss put your house up on the market and add in a part-time job as wells as impending surgery. Mix all of these things together and shake vigorously. This recipe guarantees a weight loss of 5-7 pounds per week.

I almost forgot!

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

With everything that is going on in our lives I almost forgot that this weekend is Father’s day. My husband could really use some new golf shoes. Things are a little tight right now because of some other unexpected expenses so I am going to have to search around for the best buy possible. We have so much going on that I don’t know exactly when or how I am going to get it all done. He may just end up getting a card promising a new pair of golf shoes when things have settled down a bit more.

Network with other pet lovers at Zootoo

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

I come from a family of animal lovers. It has been really fun as a parent to watch my own children develop the same affinity. My oldest son has been begging for a dog for the last several years and has been told that when he is 10 he can get one. We have been searching for the perfect type of dog for our family for quite a while. We already have several pets in our home but do not have a dog. I find networking with other pet owners is a great way to get a solid idea of the realities of owning various pets is a good idea. One place I have been doing this is at ZooToo.com.

This site offers a wealth of information about pets of all types. The Pet Social Network at ZooToo is a great way to connect with other pet owners on a regional and global scale who share common interests. Better yet is the fact that ZooToo is a wonderful support network for pet lovers who want to create the best world possible for all animals. I really like the idea that by participating in the ZooToo community is possible to earn points to help local animal shelters. When members aren’t connecting with each other in the ZooToo community ZooToo is a place to have fun, learn new information, participate in various events, and research pet related products and services. We have been learning about various breeds of dogs as a family and have found ZooToo a great resource. Right now my son thinks the perfect dog for our family would be a Boston Terrier. I can’t wait to hear what the other ZooToo members have to say about this breed!

Warm but not personal.

Selling a house is a kind of weird experience when you are still living in the house. What is even funnier is when your neighbors are trying to sell their house also. To make the situation more interesting we are using the same agent. The advice we have each been given is entirely different. We took steps prior to placing our house on the market to make it as welcoming as possible. This included taking down all of our picture frames and decorative items and painting each room in warm but neutral colors. Our agent said that these were really great moves to make. On the other hand she told our neighbors that this was not necessary because they still had to live in the house while it was on the market. Maybe this is because they haven’t really taken steps to depersonalize their home. I just find it odd. She does say our house shows very well and is warm and welcoming.

Where to put things?

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008

We have placed all of our office furniture in storage. This was done in an attempt to make our home feel more spacious when people come to look at it. It has left me with a bit of a dilemma as to what to do with our computer. We don’t really have an office space or room making it a bit difficult to determine what to do with all of the office equipment we have. I suppose I could buy another desk to put in the dining room but this kind of defeats the purpose of moving the desk we had into storage. For now it is sitting on our breakfast bar which is not very appealing to look at but serves the purpose.
