What we have is…

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

Our meeting tonight with the real estate agent went really well. It was nice to hear from an unbiased source what our house is like. While we don’t have fancy features like one of those custom built home gyms we do have what she called “a nice home”. That is really reassuring to hear after all the work that we have put into to it over the last few months. Now we just have to hope that someone else out there walks into our house and get the same impression. What would be even better is if they give us a solid bid on the house! Even better than that would be if that offer is within our range of acceptable offers! It is time for the waiting game to begin.

Renew vows?

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

We will celebrate 17 years of marriage soon. For a long time I have thought about having a simple ceremony to renew our vows. The thing is I don’t think that they need renewing because we haven’t strayed from them. What I really want is a celebration of our marriage. I don’t need a big bunch of hoopla or the worry of looking for the right bridesmaid gifts. It would just be nice to a have recognize the joys we have shared together over what amounts to half our lives with those who mean the most to us.

Spring blues.

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

This spring really isn’t as pretty as it usually is around here. Things have just been cold and damp for so long it doesn’t seem like spring is really here. In my mind I envision myself staying at one of those North Padre Island rentals. The problem is when I open my eyes all I see is gray skies and gloominess. Hopefully, this all goes away soon and we can finally start to enjoy warm breezes and sunny days. If it doesn’t we may just need to plan a getaway because I am not sure how much longer I can stand this gloom. It feel like I have up and moved to Seattle or something. At least the people in Seattle have chosen to live in that kind of climate. We are suppose to get hit with bitter winters and then be rewarded with glorious spring and summer weather. Someone forget to send the glorious weather this year.

Where is it now?

In packing up my entire life into boxes we seem to have lost a number of items. Lost may not be the right word in this case. I am sure that when we finally collect our belongings from our storage unit and move them to our new house it will probably be like Christmas. I am really hoping to find our missing SD card, my date book, and a number of other things I just can’t find. No matter how carefully I tried to pack things somehow stuff that wasn’t supposed to be packed up ended up being slipped into our packing crates. My packing “helper” gets frustrated with the process and creates these wonderful collections of items that all get thrown together in a box and labeled “stuff”. My boxes on the other hand have detailed listings on the outside and contain like items grouped into corresponding crates. Who do you think might have accidentally misplaced my date book and SD card? I think we all know who to point the finger at right? :)

Bad Tim Horton’s Manager!

Sunday, May 11th, 2008

I love Tim Horton’s coffee. In the last few years I would almost say I am addicted to it. In fact my toddler already says “coffee, double double, Equal”. This is toddler slang for the slang I use to order my morning coffee. As much as I love Tim Horton’s I read a new blip that got me riled up about the recent firing of a Tim Horton’s franchise employee in Canada. Apparently store cameras filmed a worker giving a Tim Bit to a frustrated toddler while waiting in line. The manager considered this stealing since the employee did not charge the child’s parent for the pastry. The employee ultimately was fired over a 16 cent piece of pastry. When the story hit the new she was backed up by outraged patrons who felt the firing was unjustified. The employee is reported as saying “I should have gone to my purse to get the change but it was so busy I couldn’t”. You have to wonder if this manager has EVER stood in any line anywhere with a screaming, hungry, fussy child either in their arms or in the arms of someone nearby. This thoughtful employee acted in the best interest everyone and likely actually promoted business for store by displaying a caring a compassionate “Tim Horton’s” identity. To bad that wasn’t true. Anyhow, the employee was ultimately offered her job back after the public outcry that resulted.
