Just another Toy…..NOT!!!

Friday, December 28th, 2007

My husband got another toy the other day and I must say I think that this one is a keeper. The Bose home theater system he just got is so good that you swear that the person breathing in the movie is sitting next to you as they are doing it and that they are going to steal your popcorn. The only down side is that if you watch a movie like Star Wars and the volume is turned up too loud, you practically blow your eardrums out. The neighbors called the cops yesterday because my husband was watching The Matrix and they thought the gunfire coming from the movie was actually coming from our house. It’s a good thing we are not into watching adult movies.

Good as Gold

Friday, December 28th, 2007

My husbands works in an office where pens are like gold, in short supply and easily stolen. It’s nothing that anyone will be fighting over soon and my husband is just as guilty as anyone else. People get in a hurry and need to write something down quickly, they pick up the nearest pen and when they are done they simply forget to put it back. My husband has started putting his pens in his desk with the hopes that if they are out of site they will be out of mind. These pen pilferers are jokingly now being called “Bic Bandits” but I think the wanted posters are a long ways away.

Lookin’ for a two piece.

It’s almost the end of the year ladies and it’s about time for those lame resolutions that revolve around losing weight and laying off the 2 gallons of ice cream that you usually have in a week and hitting the treadmill…….yeah right!!! This year my husband and I are going to shed those excess pounds with the help of a hoodia patch. Using this product while exercising will safely help me to a healthy body and into that two piece that my hubby got me for Christmas.

Big Decisions, Big Changes

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

My husband and I have been discussing how we should update our term life insurance. The choices when we first opened each policy were either term or whole life which, we were told would provide a better return and act as a type of savings account after each policy is paid off. Our agent has been very good to us over the years and we are going to stick with them as we explore new options as I am sure that there are more than the two choices that we had originally started with to mke our future and possibly our childrens future a little more well off.

Decisions Decisions

My hard drive is broken and for me this is a bad thing. I work at home to supplement my income with my husband’s so this has the potential to be really bad if I don’t get it fixed soon. I could talk to my geeky father-in-law but he seems to have the Tim Allen mentality about fixing things. My fear is that him replacing our hard drive could turn into an upgrade to disaster. My brother is also a computer geek but up until they caught the actual guy we considered turning him in for the reward for the unibomber. Between the two of them, pickins’ are slim.

Moving to a big boy bed.

Friday, December 14th, 2007

My youngest son is a very big baby. In fact he is the size of a three years old and is only one and a half. At his recent well child visit the pediatrician suggested that he might sleep better if we moved him to a bigger bed. Getting a good night of sleep would be a good exchange for having to pack up our beautiful baby furniture. My husband is concerned about how I will feel when we use the furniture for the last time. Since we aren’t having any more children this is a bitter sweet time of our baby’s childhood. It is amazing how many wonderful memories we tend to associate with simple furniture like baby cribs and rocking chairs. For now I am leaving the crib in the room beside the big boy bed for just a little while longer. Time really does fly doesn’t it?

Time for a career change?

Friday, December 14th, 2007

Having worked from home for the last year I question whether I ever want to return to the formal workplace. I love my current job but it is a temporary 1-2 year appointment. This has led me to look into all types of options for long term work at home opportunities. I have looked into working for a business performance management company and many other fields. Right now I am seriously considering taking some courses in medical transcription. The money is really good and there will always be a need for skilled people in this field. This job might at least in some way utilize my medical background and allow me to stay home with our young son for years to come.

Where is the mail?

Friday, December 7th, 2007

Somehow I must have gotten on every mailing list known to man. It seems like each day I go to the mail box and it is absolutely bulging. When I finally weed through all the fliers for orthopedic shoes, drug rehabs, and pizza coupons there may be a single envelope that is actually something I need to look at. It kills me to think of all the trees that are being cut down just so I these papers can enter my mail box only to be promptly filed in the trash.
